Michelle Obama does everything right, and here’s why:
Not since Jackie Kennedy have we had such a fashion forward First Lady. I know no one under 50 was emulating Barbara Bush or even Laura Bush. Nancy Reagan? Sorry, Nance. But seriously ladies, thanks for all the skirt-suits.

I particularly like that her fashion sense is practical and attainable for even us regular folk. We all know she frequents J.Crew… or probably jcrew.com. Her daughters often are photographed in dresses from Anthropologie and H&M, which frankly impresses me. She has taught them well.

Michelle is a stunner, simply put. She is such a confident woman and such a great role-model for young (and older) women. Here are just 7 reasons why...

1. She sticks with classics so that for years to come we’ll be saying, “Wow, Michelle was so stylish”, instead of “Wow, that’s so 2012”. Smart. Very smart.
Will polka dots ever go out of style? Answer: no.
2.  She is not afraid to be the center of attention. Michelle loves color! No wallflowers here!

3.Her outfits are put-together and she seems comfortable at all times. Comfort doesn't always look that good.

4. She loves her country. USA! USA! USA!

5. She does not let her height keep her from reaching even higher heights. Yeah tall girls in heels!

6. She reminds us that even gorgeous is better with a man in a tux by your side.

7. Bangs. Need I say more?

Clothes make the (wo)man.
I love clothes and putting together outfits. You are a blank canvas with endless possibilities. Sometimes you don’t know how things will look until you try them on… and add a belt? Sure! Vest? Whoa! It’s all experimentation and there’s no need to look like everyone else in town. Unless you like their look, then try it!
I spent my childhood in my brother’s hand-me-downs. I spent my teens in thrift store garb and hand-made creations. I drooled over other people’s outfits in Paris as a college student. I made fun of the fashionistas at my liberal arts college, girls who had tons of money to spend on clothes. But when I realized that I could have style too, I fully embraced it. It’s not just for some people! It’s for all people! I don’t think I’m what’s her name from Gossip Girl (yeah, I know her name) or Lady Gaga or anything. I just love “fashion”.
Obviously I have my shlubb days where I leave the house regretting my entire appearance… just wishing I could go home and change my outfit. I have my “lazy days” where I JUST DON’T CARE. But when I look good, I feel good. It’s that simple.
